Non-destructive first
The great majority of residential locks open by picking or bypass, with nothing drilled and nothing replaced. That is the goal on every call, and it is what we try first.
Drilling is a last resort. If it is genuinely the only route — a high-security cylinder, a lock already broken internally, or a snapped key jammed in the mechanism — we tell you before we do it, explain why, and give you the replacement cost up front. You decide, not us.

Proof you live there
We ask for it every time. Photo ID with the address, or a piece of post plus ID, is normal. It is the same check that protects your home when somebody else claims to live there, and any locksmith who skips it is a locksmith worth avoiding.
While we are already there
If you were locked out because the key was lost rather than left inside, rekeying at the same visit is the cheaper move. The lock stays, the old key stops working, and you are not paying a second call-out later in the week.

Will you have to drill my lock?
Usually not. Most homes open by picking or bypass. If drilling is genuinely the only option we tell you first, explain why, and price the replacement before touching it.
What proof of residence do you need?
Photo ID showing the address, or ID plus post addressed to you there. It is the same check that stops someone else getting into your home.
Can you open a UPVC or multipoint door?
Yes. Multipoint mechanisms are common and we carry the tools for them. A failed gearbox may need replacing, which we will price on site.
My key snapped in the lock – can it be extracted?
Usually yes, and often the lock is fine afterwards. Do not try to force the broken half out; that is what turns a small job into a lock replacement.
